I’m not usually one to make a big fuss over dinner.
I don’t make an elaborate feast.
I don’t like to be in the kitchen for hours when the food will be consumed in less than 20 minutes.
We don’t sit at the table as a family. Instead, we all sit in the living room together and enjoy whatever I make.
When I took the challenge from Bertolli to make mealtime special, I had no idea what I would do.
Then I remembered how much my kids enjoyed having a ‘picnic’ when they were younger. So, I set up for a picnic in the living room. In no time at all, dinner was made fun and different. We just threw down a blanket and got out the picnic plates.
Everyone was excited about doing something new and special for dinner, even though it wasn’t anything huge.
The best part for me was how easy Bertolli Soup was to prepare and serve for my family.
I like easy.
I like simple.
I like tasty.
Bertolli was all three. Just empty the contents of the bag into a sauce pan, add water, and simmer.
And that’s all.
Absolutely minimal effort and cleanup to have a hearty, delicious soup on the table (or blankets) within 20 minutes.
I loved the soup. It was full of flavor. One of my kids wouldn’t try it because it had ‘weird stuff’ (mushrooms and vegetables) in it. But the others gobbled it up. There wasn’t any left.
If you want to try Bertolli’s new soups for yourself, you can find them in the freezer section. The soup we chose was the Tuscan-Style Beef and Vegetables. It was filled with beef, mushrooms, squash, zucchini, carrots and celery.
And to make dinner fun and special for the kids, here are a few tips:
- Make something new and exciting – I know my kids get bored with the same meals too often.
- Move dinner to a different location of the house, or even outside.
- Lay a blanket down and have a picnic.
- Keep it fun and try talking about something silly instead of the same nightly family routine.
- Keep it simple for mom – If mom is happy, everyone else is happy!
