Rock ‘N Learn Colors, Shapes & Counting

I have always ‘homeschooled’ my kids for their preschool years. I enjoy being there for them to learn the basic building blocks of their education. I love to watch their faces light up as they scribble their first letter… and it actually looks like one. I love to hear them stumble through the alphabet, and eventually be able to say it by heart. I love knowing that I have helped them start on the path of learning.

I am always searching for new ways to teach them in the first few years. I have tried workbooks, print-outs, home preschool kits and so many other things and enjoyed some of them. Now I can add something different to the daily learning routine to try and mix up the learning style a bit.

Rock N Learn

I was sent one of Rock N Learn’s CD & book sets to experience with my 3 year old. We chose the Colors, Shapes & Counting book. It’s pretty rock’n. She loves listening to it and following along with the book. I love watching her and swaying to the music myself. The tunes are catchy and lively which help to make the learning fun. I don’t think she even realizes she is doing ‘schoolwork’.

In the book and CD the characters sing along as she tries to find what color the large rectangle is or what shape the brown door is. She also learns about mixing the primary colors to make other colors, counting and more. All while listening to fun music. I love how willing she is to sit down and ‘listen’ to her book.

I imagine the DVD version is just as neat. I’ve included a clip below that shows a little of what the DVD is about.
