Llama Llama Home With Mama

Llama Llama Home With Mama

Ahhh…CHOO! Llama Llama wakes up  feeling under the weather.  His head is feeling hot and his throat is sore.  No school for Little Llama today.  What is there to do all day?  Being sick is such a bore.  But when mama begins to feel sick, Llama knows just what to do.  He gets her tissues, fluffs her pillow, and finds a book to read together.  Spending time with each other may be just the thing to help Llama and Mama feel better.

Llama Llama Home with Mama by Anna Dewdney is an adorable little book about a little llama who stays home from school sick one day.  He finds out that being home sick with mama means you don’t feel good, means you get bored, take a nap and sneeze a lot.  Once little Llama wakes up, he feels a little better, but now Mama Llama is sick.  She is sneezing and hurting and little Llama doesn’t know what to do.

Little Llama remembers how good Mama was at taking care of him and does the same for her.  In the end, staying home with Mama wasn’t so bad at all!

My Thoughts

Being a sick mommy is the worst!

When the kids are sick, when dad is sick, mom is the one who usually takes care of them.  But who takes care of mom?

When I read this to my child, I secretly hope that she might pick up some ideas from it.  Maybe next time I am sick, she’ll think, “Oh, Mommy is sick, what can I do for her?”

Maybe that’s just wishful thinking, but in any case, I think Llama Llama is a cute and creative story.  I love the style of the pictures.  The drawings look as if they were painted on canvas.  Very beautiful and unique.

My daughter loves reading the story and it keeps her interested and engaged throughout.  Definitely a book to add to your child’s bookshelf!
