Growing up I spent many days flipping through an old, slightly outdated encyclopedia and soaking up everything I could on topics that interested me. The only way to get more up-to-date information required a trip to a local library. It’s with these memories that I watch with joy as my children access the Internet for school projects and get up to the second information.
Parental Controls
While the Internet is an excellent source of information, some of that information I don’t feel my children are ready to experience. With the Linksys e4200 wireless router I can use the parental controls and access restrictions built into it to limit the experience to a few chosen sites or to sites that are appropriate for their age. It allows me to fully block Internet access based on a schedule that fits my children’s needs such as no access after bedtime.

Setup
The setup process was painless and I was able to replace my older router with the e4200 without anyone losing access. Linksys is Cisco’s home product line which combines the power of Cisco with the ease of use you’d expect in a consumer product. My husbands company trusts Cisco at work for their networks and having their proven performance at home is very much a plus.
The router features a USB port for sharing files on the network. This was great for sharing pictures between computers and game consoles. It’s picked up as a media server and I was able to connect and browse the connected drive like it was another computer on the network.

There are four 1-gigabit ports on the back that make transferring large files between computers on the network a snap. The wireless access is fantastic; I created a guest wireless network for visiting family and friends that allows them to access the Internet without having to give out our network security information. This was a hit feature for us.
Lightweight
It’s all the power of Cisco in an easy to setup and sleek package. It looks great and is super light weight.

With the Internet as an integral part of our family’s lives, I trust our network with nothing less than the best. The Linksys e4200 is definitely the best for our network.
